AI chatbots including ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, and Claude have been found to regularly link pregnant users to anti-abortion organizations without clarifying their position, according to The Decoder. An AlgorithmWatch investigation analyzed 270 chatbot responses and found that the anti-abortion group Profemina appeared in 17 percent of those answers.
In Germany, these chatbots also directed users to Caritas for mandatory pre-abortion counseling, despite Caritas not issuing the legally required certification for abortion procedures, The Decoder reported. This raises concerns about transparency and the accuracy of information provided by AI in sensitive contexts.
For Japanese investors and market participants, this highlights the growing scrutiny over AI content moderation and regulatory compliance, important factors as AI technologies increasingly influence consumer decisions across sectors including finance and healthcare.
