Amazon has started to phase out its fulfillment service in Singapore and will halt its Amazon Fresh operations beginning July 6, according to KrASIA. This marks a strategic shift in the company’s local business approach.

Peter Li, Amazon’s Singapore country manager, told KrASIA that the company plans to concentrate on shipments from its stores in the US, Japan, and Germany rather than expanding local fulfillment capabilities. This move indicates a refocus on international logistics over Singapore-based services.

For Japanese investors and traders, Amazon’s adjustment highlights the ongoing challenges in Southeast Asian e-commerce markets and the importance of cross-border supply chains, especially with Japan remaining a key hub in Amazon’s global operations.
