The Australian Dollar has strengthened against the US Dollar, buoyed by expectations of a hawkish stance from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) following hotter-than-expected consumer price index (CPI) data for July. During European trading on Thursday, AUD/USD rose 0.2% to near 0.7185, reflecting renewed optimism about the RBA’s monetary policy direction.
According to FX Street citing DBS Group Research, the AUD/USD pair has experienced a notable 2.2% increase in August, adding to a 1.5% gain in July. This performance has made the Australian Dollar the best-performing G10 currency in 2026 year-to-date, with forecasts pointing toward a rally reaching 0.7275.
For Japanese investors, the Australian Dollar’s strength amid hawkish RBA signals presents opportunities in FX and commodity-linked equities, especially as global inflation trends continue to influence central bank policies.
