BAIC BluePark New Energy Technology announced a net loss of between RMB 1.77 billion and RMB 1.97 billion (USD 261.1 million to USD 290.6 million) for the first half of the year, according to KrASIA on July 14. This marks a slight improvement from a RMB 2.33 billion (USD 343.8 million) loss during the same period last year.
The company’s production increased nearly 38% to 93,670 vehicles, while sales rose 7.3% to 98,895 cars amid rising material costs impacting Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers. Despite higher output and sales, the cost pressures contributed to the continued net loss.
For Japanese investors, this trend signals ongoing cost challenges in China’s EV sector, which could influence supply chains and competitive dynamics in the regional electric vehicle market.
