Chinese automaker BYD has launched its Racco electric minicar in Japan, marking its entry into the competitive kei car segment. The launch event included test drives held at a BYD dealership in Kanazawa on July 30, just two days after the vehicle's official release in the country.

According to KrASIA, local residents and potential buyers showed interest by visiting the dealership to experience the compact electric vehicle firsthand. The Racco aims to appeal to urban drivers seeking eco-friendly and space-efficient transportation options.

With Japan’s strong focus on sustainable mobility and strict regulations favoring electric vehicles, BYD’s move to introduce the Racco could position the company well within the domestic market for small electric cars.
