DeepWay, a Chinese electric truck and assisted driving startup backed by Baidu, is setting its sights on Europe. Founded in 2020 as a joint venture between Baidu and Lionbridge Group, the company aims to license its e-truck technology to European partners and eventually establish local manufacturing through collaborations, according to KrASIA.
This year, DeepWay completed two pre-IPO funding rounds, attracting investment from notable backers including Stone Capital, ABC Impact, NGS Super, and Lenovo. These funds are expected to support the company’s expansion and technology transfer initiatives in Europe.
For Japanese investors and market watchers, DeepWay’s move underscores the growing interest in electric commercial vehicles and autonomous driving technologies across Asia and Europe, signaling potential opportunities in cross-border partnerships and innovation within the EV sector.
