Norman Liebke of Commerzbank has highlighted concerns over European gas storage levels heading into the winter season. According to FX Street, current gas inflows of 8 billion cubic meters (bcm) per month are insufficient to maintain adequate storage, which could drop to near zero by March if supply conditions remain unchanged.

Liebke emphasized that higher imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be critical to prevent storage depletion over the colder months. The warning comes amid ongoing energy supply challenges across Europe, where gas reserves are essential to meet demand during winter.

For Japanese investors, the situation underscores the growing importance of LNG markets globally, as shifts in European demand can impact LNG prices and supply dynamics that also affect Asia’s energy imports and broader commodity trading.
