Google Deepmind has launched the AlphaGenome Atlas, a groundbreaking dataset predicting the effects of every possible single-letter change in the human genome. According to The Decoder, the atlas covers roughly nine billion potential variations, offering unprecedented insight into genetic mutations.

The dataset spans one petabyte in size, making it more than 30 times larger than Deepmind's well-known AlphaFold database, as reported by The Decoder. This vast resource aims to accelerate research by enabling scientists to better understand the impact of genetic changes on human health.

In a notable application, the AlphaGenome Atlas helped identify a previously overlooked genetic variant as the likely cause of an epilepsy case, demonstrating its potential clinical value.
