Google has enhanced Android Studio by opening it to third-party AI agents through a new 'Bring Your Own Agent' feature, supporting over 40 coding agents including Anthropic's Claude Agent and OpenAI's Codex, according to The Decoder.
The update also introduces new Gemini APIs and terminal tools that reportedly enable these AI agents to complete user interface tasks 77 percent faster while consuming up to three times fewer tokens, improving coding efficiency.
This move reflects growing AI integration in software development tools, a trend closely watched by Japanese developers and investors as it may accelerate app development and innovation in Japan's tech market.
