The Japanese Yen advanced against major currencies on Wednesday as market participants priced in an expected interest rate increase by the Bank of Japan. According to FX Street, the British Pound fell 0.22% to approximately 216.85 yen during the European trading session.
Similarly, the US Dollar weakened, with USD/JPY dropping 0.1% to near 159.00 yen. The Euro also declined by 0.22% against the yen, trading around 185.45 in early European hours. These moves reflect growing expectations that the Bank of Japan will raise its policy rate by 25 basis points to 1.25% at the upcoming September meeting, FX Street reported.
For Japanese investors and traders, this shift signals a potential tightening in monetary policy, which could influence FX and equity market dynamics domestically and internationally.
