Researchers from top AI organizations have issued warnings about the rise of automated AI research, noting that important milestones in recursive self-improvement have already been reached. This insight comes from interviews conducted by Severin Field, an IAPS fellow, who spoke with 25 experts from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Deepmind, Meta, and US universities, according to The Decoder.

The researchers highlighted that several of the predicted stages associated with AI systems improving themselves autonomously are no longer theoretical but have been practically achieved. This development raises new considerations for the pace and direction of AI advancement.

For Japanese investors and market participants, these findings underscore the growing importance of monitoring AI innovation trends, as they could impact technology sectors and influence FX and equity market dynamics linked to global AI leadership.
