Currencies and Asian equities showed mixed activity on Wednesday as markets awaited the Federal Reserve’s interest rate announcement scheduled for 18:00 GMT, according to FX Street. The US Dollar weakened, ending the Indonesian Rupiah’s four-day winning streak at around 17,740 USD/IDR and halting the Swiss Franc’s five-day rise near 0.8180 USD/CHF. Meanwhile, the Euro traded under pressure at approximately 1.1545 EUR/USD in early European trading.

The Japanese Yen reached a one-week high between 155.45 and 155.50 USD/JPY during Asian hours, marking its third consecutive day of gains. The Indian Rupee maintained losses extending beyond a week against the US Dollar in the opening session. Asian equity markets edged higher in modest gains, tracking steady US stock index futures ahead of the Fed decision.

Gold prices remained subdued below $4,350, reflecting the US Dollar’s pause after hitting a two-week peak. With the Bank of Japan’s policies continuing to influence the yen, Japanese investors remain attentive to the Fed’s move, which could impact FX volatility and equity sentiment across the region.
