OpenAI officially launched its latest AI model, GPT-5.6, on Thursday after a delay caused by the U.S. government. According to The Decoder, the release was held back pending additional safety testing, but the government’s restrictions have now been lifted.

The Decoder also reported that OpenAI’s new Sol model outperforms Anthropic’s Claude Mythos 5 on coding benchmarks while operating at about half the cost. This positions OpenAI strongly in the competitive AI landscape, particularly in areas requiring efficient and cost-effective coding solutions.

For Japanese markets, where AI integration in finance and technology sectors is accelerating, OpenAI’s advancements could influence both domestic innovation and international partnerships in AI-driven trading and development.
