OpenAI has resumed offering ChatGPT services on WhatsApp within the European Economic Area (EEA), according to The Decoder. This availability now includes all 27 European Union member states as well as Liechtenstein, Iceland, and Norway.

The move marks a significant expansion of OpenAI's product reach in Europe, leveraging the popular messaging platform owned by Meta. By integrating ChatGPT on WhatsApp, users in the EEA can now access AI-powered conversational tools directly within their messaging app.

For Japanese investors and market participants, this development highlights the growing integration of AI technologies with established communication platforms, a trend that may influence adoption rates and regulatory considerations in Japan’s own tech ecosystem.
