Samsung semiconductor employees are increasingly leaving their positions to join rival SK Hynix, motivated by significantly higher bonuses and improved career prospects. According to MIT Technology Review, SK Hynix plans to award its employees a $476,000 bonus, a figure that has left Samsung’s chip workers feeling demoralized.
Samsung engineer Lee and several coworkers have reportedly started applying to SK Hynix, exchanging application tips within their networks. Lee’s team lead has even encouraged staff to consider moving to SK Hynix, highlighting the growing talent migration within South Korea’s semiconductor industry, as reported by MIT Technology Review.
This talent shift underscores competitive pressures in the semiconductor sector, which also affects global supply chains and technology markets. For Japanese investors, this development signals intensified competition among chipmakers in the region, potentially influencing equity valuations and supply dynamics in FX and semiconductor-related assets.
