A recent study involving more than 3,000 participants found that access to AI-generated answers significantly decreased individuals' willingness to admit uncertainty. According to The Decoder, the rate of people saying "I don't know" dropped sharply from 44 percent to just 3 percent when AI assistance was available.

Despite this increased confidence, the accuracy of responses fell. Participants using AI were correct only about one third as often as those who answered without AI support. The study also noted that AI answers were almost always incorrect in these cases, highlighting a concerning gap between confidence and correctness.

For Japanese investors and traders navigating FX, crypto, and equities markets, this finding suggests caution when relying on AI tools for decision-making, as overconfidence may lead to costly errors in fast-moving financial environments.
