Chinese tech giant Tencent announced its latest large language model, Hy4, on November 4. According to KrASIA, Tencent claims Hy4 ranks among the top-tier open-source AI models, showcasing strong performance in various AI benchmarks.

KrASIA reported that Hy4 outperformed Anthropic’s Claude Opus 5.5 in agentic coding tasks and surpassed both Claude Opus 5.5 and OpenAI’s GPT 6.1 Sol in agentic search and working agent challenges. However, Hy4 lagged behind these models, including Kimi K3.1 Pro, in AI-assisted research tasks.

As Japan’s technology market continues to adopt advanced AI tools, Tencent’s Hy4 presents a notable development that could influence regional AI competition and innovation across FX, crypto, and equities sectors.
