Volvo Cars Greater China is set to introduce a new high-end D-segment flagship sedan codenamed '561', positioned above the current S90 model. According to KrASIA, this upcoming vehicle aims to compete directly with the Maextro S800 in the premium sedan market.

The launch comes shortly after Duan Jianjun took leadership of Volvo Cars Greater China, having left Mercedes-Benz’s Beijing operation less than 100 days ago. This leadership change signals Volvo’s intensified focus on the Chinese premium automotive segment, leveraging local market expertise.

For Japanese investors and traders, this development highlights the growing competition in China’s luxury car market, where domestic and foreign brands increasingly vie for market share, potentially influencing regional automotive equities and FX flows.
