An AI assistant named JudgeGPT has helped Pakistani judges improve their case resolution rates and reduce backlogs. According to The Decoder, a field experiment involving 1,559 judges showed a 6.3% increase in case resolution when the AI tool was used.
The Decoder also noted that the positive impact was only observed among judges who received hands-on training with JudgeGPT; without such training, the effect largely disappeared. This highlights the importance of proper implementation and user education for AI tools in the judicial system.
Furthermore, researchers estimate a return of up to $38.50 for every dollar invested in the technology, indicating significant cost-effectiveness. For Japanese markets, where judicial efficiency and digital innovation are ongoing priorities, this development suggests potential benefits from integrating AI assistance in legal processes.
