AMD has announced the acquisition of AI startup World Labs for $8.2 billion, according to The Decoder. This move aims to strengthen AMD's position in artificial intelligence by integrating World Labs’ advanced spatial intelligence technologies.
As part of the deal, AI expert Fei-Fei Li will join AMD as Executive Vice President and Chief Scientist, reporting directly to CEO Lisa Su. World Labs is known for developing spatial intelligence models, including Atlas, a platform that creates and simulates 3D environments from minimal input, The Decoder reported.
