Anthropic has introduced Claude Sonnet 5, an AI model that outperforms its predecessor Sonnet 4.6 as well as the competing Opus 4.8 on the GDPval-AA v2 knowledge work test. According to The Decoder, Claude Sonnet 5 achieved a score of 1,618, marking a notable improvement in AI knowledge work capabilities.

Despite this progress, The Decoder notes that Claude Sonnet 5 still scores significantly below certain AI models currently restricted by the US government, particularly in cybersecurity-related tasks. This indicates that while Claude Sonnet 5 advances in knowledge benchmarks, it lags behind some specialized systems in security domains.

For Japanese investors and technology markets, such developments highlight the ongoing competition in AI innovation, which could influence future applications in financial analysis, automated trading, and risk management tools.
