Anthropic has entered into a significant data center lease agreement with Bitcoin mining company Riot Platforms, securing capacity in Texas. According to The Decoder, the deal involves $9.1 billion worth of data center capacity at Riot's Rockdale site, covering 191 megawatts of power.
The agreement also includes extension options that could increase the total value to $16.1 billion, highlighting the scale of Anthropic’s infrastructure investment. Riot Platforms is known for its large-scale Bitcoin mining operations, while Anthropic is expanding its data processing capabilities in a competitive tech environment that includes players like Amazon, Google, and SpaceX.
For Japanese investors and market participants, this move signals growing demand for high-capacity data centers in the U.S., which could influence infrastructure and technology investments across global markets.
