Anthropic’s AI model Claude Science has been instrumental in creating the first full ultraviolet map of the sky, according to The Decoder. Astrophysicist Brice Ménard from Johns Hopkins University leveraged Claude Science to download, calibrate, and integrate data from multiple space missions, using AI-driven inpainting techniques to fill gaps in the dataset.
The resulting ultraviolet map shows about a ten percent deviation on average from actual measurements, highlighting the AI’s accuracy in astrophysical data processing. This represents a significant advance in how complex astronomical data can be synthesized and visualized with AI assistance.
For Japanese investors and technology firms, this development underscores the growing role of advanced AI in scientific research and data analytics, potentially influencing Japan’s expanding AI and space technology sectors.
