The Chinese Yuan saw a modest strengthening last week, supported by a series of positive developments including a new trade agreement between Beijing and Brussels, as well as progress on a US-China tariff framework. According to FX Street, Commerzbank analysts noted that these moves slightly improve China’s external economic environment.
Additionally, the People’s Bank of China (PBoC) contributed to the Yuan’s gains through its USD/CNY fixing model, which indicated a slightly stronger currency. Both the USD-CNY and USD-CNH exchange rates fell to 6.69 last week, reflecting this modest appreciation, FX Street reported.
For Japanese investors, the Yuan’s relative stability and incremental gains highlight ongoing efforts by Chinese authorities to manage currency strength amid global trade tensions, a factor that may influence regional FX and equity markets.
