The Czech koruna outperformed other Central and Eastern European (CEE) currencies amid diverging monetary policies in the region. Its gains came alongside a stronger euro, which climbed above the 1.17 level, according to Commerzbank.
Commerzbank noted that the euro’s resilience above 1.17 has provided support to higher-beta currencies such as the Polish zloty and Hungarian forint. Meanwhile, the Czech koruna also strengthened despite having a lower beta profile compared to its regional peers.
For Japanese investors, these movements highlight the importance of monitoring euro strength and regional policy divergence when assessing FX exposure in CEE markets, especially given the interplay with global risk sentiment.
