Gold and silver prices declined sharply on Wednesday amid growing confidence that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates at its October meeting. According to FX Street, gold sank by over 1.5% during the North American session, while silver (XAG/USD) tumbled more than 3.67%, falling from a high of $67.52 to $64.59.
The Japanese Yen also weakened against the US Dollar, with USD/JPY climbing to a three-week high around 158.18, rising 0.50% on the day. This movement was driven by hawkish remarks from the Federal Reserve, signaling further rate hikes ahead, FX Street reported.
For Japanese investors, these shifts highlight increased volatility in FX and commodity markets as the Fed’s tightening stance impacts global currencies and precious metals, influencing portfolio strategies in Japan’s export-driven economy.
