Abu Dhabi’s sovereign investor Mubadala has agreed to make a significant minority investment in Chinese coffee chain Luckin Coffee. The deal, announced on September 10, is valued at approximately USD 1 billion, according to KrASIA.
The investment is made alongside Centurium Capital, signaling strong interest from Middle Eastern investors in Luckin’s growth potential. This move highlights Mubadala’s strategy to diversify its portfolio into high-growth consumer sectors across Asia.
For Japanese investors, the deal underscores increasing cross-border capital flows into Asian consumer brands, which could influence regional equity markets and FX dynamics as global investors seek exposure to emerging market growth stories.
