Netflix is integrating AI technology into approximately 300 of its productions, primarily in post-production stages, to speed up and reduce the cost of content creation, according to The Decoder. This approach has allowed the streaming giant to produce AI-assisted footage twice as fast and at half the cost compared to traditional methods.
One example highlighted by The Decoder is the docuseries "The American Experiment," which includes 17 minutes of AI-enhanced footage. Despite these efficiencies, Netflix’s overall content budget of $20 billion is expected to remain steady, with savings from AI likely redirected to fund more programming rather than cut spending.
For Japanese markets, where both FX and equities investors watch major tech adoption trends closely, Netflix’s move underscores the growing role of AI in media production and its potential impact on global content strategies and investment opportunities.
