The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) opted to keep interest rates unchanged at 4.35% in its August monetary policy decision, according to FX Street. The decision was unanimous and reflects a shift in the bank’s forward guidance.
Societe Generale’s Kenneth Broux noted that the RBA removed one projected rate hike from its outlook, now forecasting the policy rate to hover around 4.40% through 2028. This adjustment signals a more cautious approach to future tightening.
Following the announcement, the Australian Dollar strengthened modestly against the US Dollar, trading above the 0.7060 level, FX Street reported. For Japanese investors, monitoring the RBA’s stance is crucial as it may influence regional FX flows and risk sentiment, especially in cross-asset strategies involving the AUD.
