The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is expected to maintain its repo rate at 5.25%, opting instead to use macroprudential measures to ensure financial stability. This approach comes as the Indian Rupee faces downward pressure due to rising oil prices and a stronger US Dollar.

According to FX Street, BNY’s Geoff Yu anticipates that the RBI will refrain from raising rates further, focusing on regulatory tools to manage risks rather than direct monetary tightening. The central bank’s strategy aims to balance inflation concerns with the need to support economic growth amid external currency pressures.

For Japanese investors, this stance by the RBI signals cautious monetary policy in one of Asia’s key emerging markets, which could influence regional capital flows and forex volatility, particularly in USD/INR and related currency pairs.
