Sweden's core consumer price index with fixed interest rate (CPIF) excluding energy saw an unexpected increase in July, even as the headline CPIF inflation decelerated. According to Nomura, this divergence was largely influenced by government policies, including cuts to fuel duties and subsidies for public transport.

The slowdown in headline CPIF was attributed to these government measures aimed at easing energy costs, which have a significant weight in the overall inflation basket. However, underlying inflation pressures outside the energy sector remained elevated, signaling persistent price increases in other parts of the economy.

For Japanese investors and traders, the mixed inflation signals from Sweden may affect the Swedish krona and Riksbank's monetary policy outlook, with implications for FX and equity markets linked to European economic trends.
