The Japanese Yen came under pressure against the US Dollar, with USD/JPY rising from near 157.58 to above 158 after a coordinated intervention by Japan and the US. According to FX Street, the pair traded cautiously near 159.36 during the European session on Wednesday.

MUFG’s Teppei Ino noted that USD/JPY initially opened around 157.58 and dipped towards 155.20 following the official confirmation of the joint intervention. However, the pair quickly recovered, surpassing the 158 level by 7 August, reflecting the impact of the coordinated action.

This intervention highlights ongoing efforts by Japanese authorities to stabilize the Yen amid heightened volatility, a key concern for both domestic investors and global markets given Japan’s significant role in FX trading.
