Uzbekistan has initiated a pilot program to test stablecoin payments backed by government bonds, utilizing Humo Digital’s platform. The trial involves more than 20 merchants operating within a sandbox environment jointly overseen by the National Agency for Project Management (NAPP) and Uzbekistan’s central bank, according to CoinTelegraph.
The pilot aims to explore the practical use of digital payments underpinned by government securities, potentially enhancing payment efficiency and financial innovation in the country. HUMO payments, facilitated through Humo Digital, are central to this initiative.
For Japanese investors and market participants, Uzbekistan’s move highlights the growing interest in integrating traditional financial instruments with blockchain technology in emerging markets, signaling potential areas for cross-border collaboration and innovation in digital assets.
