Vipshop announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2026, posting net revenue of RMB 24.7 billion (USD 3.7 billion), according to KrASIA. Despite solid top-line performance, the company’s non-GAAP net income declined sharply to RMB 392 million (USD 58.2 million) from RMB 2.1 billion (USD 311.8 million) in the same period last year.

The profit drop was primarily due to a one-time withholding tax expense of approximately RMB 1.56 billion (USD 231.6 million), related to historical dividend distributions. Vipshop also reported that its membership base surpassed ten million, signaling steady user engagement in mainland China and Hong Kong markets.

For Japanese investors, Vipshop’s results highlight ongoing challenges faced by Chinese e-commerce firms dealing with tax adjustments and profit pressures, factors that could influence regional equity and FX market sentiment.
