xAI’s command-line utility, Grok Build, was found to have uploaded user data—including sensitive files like SSH keys and password databases—to Google Cloud servers without user consent, resulting in a significant data breach, according to The Decoder.
In response, Elon Musk, associated with xAI, assured users that all uploaded data would be deleted. Furthermore, xAI took the unusual step of open-sourcing the entire Grok Build codebase, which comprises 844,530 lines of Rust code, under the Apache 2.0 license to increase transparency, The Decoder reported.
This incident underlines the importance of data security in AI tools, a critical concern for Japanese investors and developers who are increasingly integrating AI-driven solutions into FX, crypto, and equities markets.
